Ethereum Fusaka Upgrade

17 August 2025·1 min read

The Fusaka upgrade, a planned Ethereum hard fork in November 2025, includes 11 EIPs aimed at improving network performance, scalability, and efficiency.

What’s the news

  • EIP-7594 (PeerDAS): Reduces node bandwidth and storage load, aiding Layer-2 rollups
  • EIP-7825 (Spam Resistance Checks): Shields the network from transaction spam
  • Gas Limit Increase: Up to 150 million gas per block for higher transaction throughput

Technical foundation & rollout

  • Devnet-3: July 2025
  • Public testnets: September – October 2025
  • Mainnet activation: Scheduled for early to mid-November 2025

Good to know

  • Fusaka is next in the six-month upgrade cycle following Pectra, setting the stage for Glamsterdam in 2026
  • Backend improvements will translate into more stable gas fees, higher throughput, and greater network security for users
  • Hard Fork: A non-backward-compatible protocol change; Ethereum has already undergone several such hard forks.
