The "Genesis Mission" – US Federal Government Launches AI Program

On November 24, 2025, President Donald Trump launched the "Genesis Mission" by Executive Order – a nationwide initiative to accelerate scientific discovery using artificial intelligence (AI). The mission is intended to pool government research data, supercomputers and private technology partners in order to take research and innovation to a new level.

The Genesis Mission is designed as a whole-of-government AI project and is intended to:

• create an integrated AI research and experimentation platform ecosystem that processes and leverages large scientific datasets in automated fashion;
• combine the computing power of the 17 national DOE laboratories, universities and private companies;
• accelerate scientific breakthroughs in areas such as energy, health, materials science, aerospace and security;
• build complex AI models and automated research workflows that test hypotheses, run simulations and generate results.

The White House compares the initiative to historic large-scale projects such as the Apollo program, underscoring its strategic significance.
