Developing a Distribution Model for Bitcoin

With the approval of the first Bitcoin spot ETFs in the US on 10 January 2024, the market for digital assets changed structurally and lastingly. Bitcoin is evolving from a tech-affine niche investment into a mass-market, institutionally legitimised financial product — whose success depends heavily on clear, structured and convincing distribution.

Against this backdrop, this academic thesis examines which classic and digital distribution approaches and success factors of financial distribution can be transferred to Bitcoin, and where adjustments or additions become necessary due to the distribution-specific characteristics that arise from Bitcoin's properties.

On this basis, a structured and target-group-oriented distribution model for Bitcoin was developed that serves financial service providers and banks as a guide to successfully opening up this growing market segment. The work was created as a bachelor thesis supported by 21 Oaks and reflects our ambition to actively promote and support academic work with high practical relevance.

The publication is aimed at specialists and executives in the financial sector as well as anyone wishing to engage more deeply with the distribution-side positioning of digital assets.
